Our Story
Ms. Nicki Sanders is the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of The Teen Toolbox, LLC. Ms. Nicki is a Mother, Entrepreneur, Writer, Youth Advocate, and Life Strategist. Ms. Nicki's passion for writing was sparked after she won an award for a safety slogan contest in elementary school. Since that time, she has been writing personal letters, poems, stories, and greeting cards for family and friends. In 2003, she began writing bimonthly newsletters for the three generations of women in her family. These newsletters allowed her to share her insight while doing something that she loved and that came naturally - writing. Ms. Nicki turned her passion for acquiring and sharing knowledge into a thriving business venture when she launched The Teen Toolbox, LLC, youth development and life skills consulting company in 2007.
Ms. Nicki is an avid reader who incorporates both her personal and profession experiences into the heart of The Teen Toolbox, LLC services. Ms. Nicki always did well in school and was even Salutatorian of her high school class. Despite her good grades and supportive family and teachers, Ms. Nicki had only vague ideas of what she wanted out of life. She did not have concrete goals or a plan of how to achieve the wishes she held on to. As a result, she fumbled through the college application and job search process in her senior year of high school and learned many, many things by trial and error for years to come.
After having a baby during her sophomore year in college, changing schools at the end of her junior year, putting in hours of volunteer time, working low-wage jobs, acquiring student loans, and mastering sleep deprivation, Ms. Nicki earned her Bachelor's degree from Trinity College and her Master of Social Work degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore. Ms. Nicki has been employed in the human services field for over a decade. Her professional expertise includes case management, advocacy, facilitating youth and adult groups, volunteer management, and crisis intervention. Her skills also include program planning and development as well as event planning and community development. Ms. Nicki has tapped into the strategies she utilizes to keep herself motivated and on task and expresses them in the programs and services offered by The Teen Toolbox, LLC. The Teen Toolbox, LLC was created to give teenagers the tools to take charge of their lives and to live life on purpose. Ms. Nicki aspires to be a support and a resource for teenagers and help youth recognize and take advantage of the opportunities around them.
