William R. - July 2010
William R. is a rising seventh grade student in New York. He is very active and enjoys tennis, football, art, music, basketball, golf, fishing, dirt bike riding, scuba diving, and horse back riding.
William made the Principal's List each quarter last school year and plans to have another successful school year next year by making the Principal's List every quarter. William believes that every kid deserves a chance to succeed in life and every kid deserves a good education. William has put his beliefs into action by founding Kid-Too-Kid Foundation, Inc, at the age of 10. the mission of Kid-Too-Kid Foundation, Inc, is to meet the fundamental needs of underserved children by providing educational supplies, art supplies, and tutoring support to children locally, nationally, and internationally.
William is a regional winner of Kohl's Kids Who Care Award. He has also been recognized for his community dedication by Suffolk County Legislator Jay Schneiderman, Southampton Intermediate School Board, HYPE (Helping Young People Excel), and invited to Apollo theatre by DoSomething.org.
William has been interviewed by countless media outlets including multiple news articles in "News Day" newspaper, "Southampton Press" newspaper, and radio interviews with 92.1 WLNG and 88.3 WLIU. William makes time to encourage and support others through Peer-to-Peer Mentoring. He is also a motivational speaker. He has been a special guest speaker at Dowling College, Dowling Mentoring Program, J. Tobin School, Boston Massachusetts, and on a podcast on Black Media Network in North Carolina.
William plans to continue to use his creativity to grow Kid-Too-Kid Foundation, Inc, by fundraising, developing an "Ambassador Program" of Kid-Too-Kid Foundation, Inc, and creating a for profit company, Kid-Too-Kid Foundation, Inc clothing line. William plans to attend college after high school.
Frank U. - June 2010
Frank U. is a rising senior in Prince George's County, MD with a 3.8 GPA. He was class Treasurer during his sophomore and junior years. During his senior year he will be Student Government Senator and also in charge of senior class fundraising. Frank is a member of the Upward bound program at Prince George's Community college where he is currently enrolled in Accounting 101.
Frank feels that his greatest quality is his leadership skills. He has earned over 600 community service hours by volunteering with his church, Prince George's Hospital Center, and Patriots Technology Training Center. Frank recruited and lead a team of students who won the 2010 Patriots Technology Training Center Bio-medical competition. Frank is the President of Patriots Business Engineers of Tomorrow and a loyal member of Leaders of Promise and the African Student Association. He has been nominated to attend several state and national leadership conferences.
Frank enjoys coordinating fundraisers, solving equations, and reading in his spare time. He is a member of his high school soccer and baseball teams. He loves to play football, basketball. and baseball with friends. He also loves playing Madden NFL 10 on X-box 360.
Frank lives by the personal philosophy that hard work, dedication, and respect never fail you. He also believes that it doesn't matter where you came from; it only matters where you are going.
Frank feels that his success in school is an important goal because it is a stepping stone to his future. He plans to attend The Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania and acquire his Bachelor's degree in Accounting while becoming a Certified Public Accountant. He later plans to pursue his MBA and become a top executive for a large company. Frank plans to become the richest person in the world, and when he retires, open an African restaurant as he starts a family business.
Stephanie M. - May 2010
Stephanie M. is a graduating senior in Prince George's County, MD. She attends the Science and Technology program at her high school pursuing the Computer Science track. She has a 3.87 GPA and ranks 16th in her graduating class of over 500 students.
Stephanie is humorous, friendly, and helpful. She has been a Girl Scout for 10 years. Currently she is a Senior Scout working toward the Girls Scouts highest honor, the Gold Award. Stephanie's Gold Award Project is "A Night to Remember" which is a prom for senior citizens from a local senior citizens home are escorted by youth.
Stephanie has volunteered a total of 484 hours including the White House Easter Egg Roll, M-NCPPC volunteer counselor, Outreach Committee at her church, and both Avon and Susan G. Comen Walk for the Cure breast cancer walks.
Stephanie is Step Team Manager, a member of the Ski Club, and on the Track and Field Team at her high school. She enjoys basketball, reading, arts & crafts including scrapbooking and card making, and spending time with family, friends, and her church family.
Stephanie's personal philosophy is "Trust in the Lord and He will see you through any endeavor". Her goal is to graduate from college with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, obtain her Master's degree in Accounting, then pass the certification test and earn the title of Certified Public Accountant. After achieving these goals, Stephanie then plans to become an Accountant for a professional sports team or a celebrity.
Samuel F. - April 2010
Samuel F. is an 8th grade student in Montgomery county, MD. He enjoys swimming, writing reviews and short stories, playing video games, and playing guitar. Samuel also has a blog that is under construction.
Samuel is proud of his Venezuelan culture and traditions. He is a mature and intelligent young man who loves his family and his family and community.
Samuel believes in the power of perseverance. he believes that you should never give up your dreams because someone tells you to give up. He believes that dreams should be pursued no matter what. He believes that your goals and dreams cannot be acheived by anyone but you. You are the one with the key to your dream. It's your choice to abandon the key or with it, unlock the gate to success.
Samuel aspires to help people that are in need, to become a lawyer, to write a book, to travel, and to give everything that he can give to the world.
Kaeleigh T. - March 2010
Kaeleigh T. is the reigning Miss California National Teenager and a high school junior. She is an academic scholar who was Sophomore class Vice-President, is a Leadership Class member, and a Junior Raiderette Cheerleader for the NFL Oakland Raiders. Kaeleigh recently won her city's Rotary Youth Speech Contest.
Kaeleigh is a member of several above average high IQ organizations including MENSA, the International High IQ Society, Intertel, and The Top One Percent. She is also Captain and the Alpha Company Commander in her school's JROTC program.
Kaeleigh enjoys modeling, acting, musical theater and competing in beauty pageants. She was cast in a national Rexana television commercial. She has been featured in several public service announcements and many educational videos as well as a Six78th junior lifestyle magazine guest writer. Kaeleigh has also done print, web, and runway modeling.
Kaeleigh has given unselfishly to the community. She has been selected as a fall intern for President Obama's "Organizing for America" community organizing project. She has currently logged over 1200 hours at the President's Volunteer Service Award site by supporting American troops through anymarine.com, Soldier's Angels, and Soldiers' Bakers programs where she sends monthly care packages, correspondence, and cookies to "adopted" troops currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, spearheading a holiday card campaign program for Army brigade currently serving in Iraq, and participating in the "Hungry for Change" fundraiser for President Barack Obama.
Kaeleigh believes that everyone should "Be the best YOU you can be"! By this she means try your best at school, give 100% in athletics, give back to the community through some kind of service or in-kind donations, and be a great friend.
Kaeleigh's short-term goal is to continue her concurrent enrollment in high school (4.43 GPA)and community college (4.0 GPA) so she can graduate with both a high school diploma and a General Liberal Arts/Humanities Associates degree. She plans to obtain a bachelor's degree in international relations at an American university in Europe and hopes to obtain a Master's and Doctorate degree from Oxford University in the UK.
Emerson S. - February 2010
Emerson S. is a Senior in Anne Arundel County, MD. He is Squad Leader in his school Marching Band where he plays both tenor saxophone and alto saxophone. He is also lead tenor saxophone in his school's Jazz Band and was voted a two-time All County First Chair Musician. Emerson was also selected and played with the US Army Field Band.
Emerson wanted to do something memorable and helpful with his free time. He has been a Cadet Volunteer EMT/Firefighter for Laurel Rescue Squad, Inc., for six months. He volunteers once a week and receives hands-on life-saving training. He has even gone out on emergency calls.
Emerson plays lacrosse and served as team captain last year. He enjoys music, computer programming, skateboarding, BMX, and fashion. After high school, he plans to attend college and major in MUSIC PERFORMANCE and continue his music career as a professional jazz musician. Emerson is considering attending North Carolina A&T State University.
In the words of Emerson, "I'm Emerson, to sum me up, I am a super nice guy, very active, but at times can be really quiet but other times I can be talkative and not seem shy. I am a fun person and I intend to stay that way."
Trenton G. - January 2010
Trenton G. is a Prince George's County, MD , 10th grade academic scholar with a 4.0 grade point average. He is excelling in PreCalculus, AP Statistics, and Honors Chemistry. Trenton is the Lead Tenor in a musician's group at his school. He is also a self-taught trumpet and clarinet player. He attended Hampton University's HBCU Band Camp 2009 and was voted Best Jazz Instrumentalist by music directors.
Trenton is co-founder of HIP (Hidden Inspirations Project) Kids, a non-profit youth organization dedicated to bringing awareness about hidden medical conditions that make teens socially different. He has taken the lead in organizing teen awareness and walk participation in the National Walk for Epilepsy and the Autism Walk DC. Additional community service projects have been recognized by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Foundation of Prince George's County (Student Leadership and Community Service Award); Prince George's County Council declaration of Proclamation awarded (medical awareness and community support) and House of Delegates Youth Leadership and Community Service Award. His youth group was recognized by Stafford Foundation (The People's Project) for supporting under-served youth to attend the Inaugural 2009 activities at JW Marriott hotel. This past summer, Trenton worked as a camp mentor and was voted best first year mentor by camp counselors.
Trenton enjoys golf, music, reading, Japanese anime', video games, camping, swimming, traveling, football, snowboarding/snowtubing, animals, friends, and hanging with good people. Hi personal philosophies include, "God loves and protects me!", and "We'll make it work...I got this!" Trenton plans to attend college and pursue a dual major in science or math and music. He will continue to play in the marching band, remain active in community service, start his own band and one day get married, have a good career and raise a family.
